As any Jersey Shore local knows, there used to be only one name in the area when it came to great tasting BBQ ribs – the Southern House in Pt. Pleasant. So it was with great sadness when it burnt to the ground several years ago. Ever since, I’ve been looking for a replacement. Sure, there’s Famous Dave’s BBQ in Brick, which is good, but it’s a chain, and chain food can only go so far, so the search continued.
Well, I can honestly say that the BBQ void has been filled. Enter D & L BBQ, where you can find ribs that are just as good if not better than the Southern House (yeah, I said it.) The perfectly sauced meat literally falls off the bone. Couple that with their corn bread, huge portions, and respectable prices, you have a truly winning combination. . . . . .

Until D&L came along, it was really hard to find good barbecue on the Jersey shore. They have standards such as barbecued chicken and ribs (including beef ribs), but also lots of other dishes such as barbecued shrimp and salmon, as well as some West Indies inspired items such as curried chicken. I also like their sweet potato fries. The owner and servers are all very gracious and pleasant. If you like barbecue, D&L is a gem.

If you like ribs and guiness – try their Guiness ribs. The meat falls off the bone and tastes oddly like guiness
. Large portions, good food, andfair prices. Nough said
